KRSG rhythmic gymnast Jade Vo from Nepean celebrated her 10th birthday with her best placement ever at the Ontario Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships held in Etobicoke, Ontario. First performing her free routine in the 3A category well, for a 10th place finish, Jade performed her hoop routine gracefully, and confidently caught all her throws to the delight of the crowd. She placed 4th in the hoop, and it was enough to secure her the 7th place overall ribbon, moving up 4 places from her qualifying position. Jade's performance spurred her 25 team mates from the Kanata Rhythmic Gymnastics Club to a weekend full of inspired performances at the Championships. Haley Miller, age 9, also from Nepean and a member of KRSG, performed with excellent execution and musicality to win the bronze medal in level 2B for her free and ball routines as well as overall. She then combined with her duo partner Erika Lin for a silver medal in the hard-fought Novice Duo ball event. Haley and Erika's flexibility and secure traps of the ball with their knees and backs gave them the edge over the other competitors, including their friends from the Kanata Club, Sylvia Qi and Brianna Lu, who won the 5th place ribbon. KRSG's classes are held at a variety of locations throughout Western Ottawa, please visit www.krsg.org for details and registration.
