Olympic Gold Medalist Rosie MacLennan was in Ottawa last week to launch the Canadian Gymnastics Championships. They will be held May 17-25 at Carleton University, with gymnasts from rhythmic, artistic, tumbling and trampoline all competing for Canadian titles- from novice to Olympic level. Rosie talked about the importance of the Canadian Championships throughout her career, and the inspiration she gained over the years from watching all the other gymnasts.
Local gymnasts who have qualified for Nationals were invited to the press conference, and KRSG's senior national gymnast Lucinda Nowell had just qualified at Eastern Regionals the previous weekend, with a silver medal overall and gold in the ribbon. She was very excited to meet Rosie and touch her Olympic gold medal!
