On Friday June 11 and Saturday June 12 the Ontario Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships were held at the Etobicoke Olympium. On the first day of competition, the Kanata Rhythmic Gymnastics Club's gymnasts walked away with 3 Ontario Championships.
Myranda Bingham and Megan Kawai became the Ontario Champions in the Junior Duo/Trio for their unique and difficult hoop routine. This was the third straight Ontario title for the determined duo, who posted a very high score of 19 for their routine. The Kanata Trio finished in 5th place.
Kanata's newest duo, Brianna Lu and Erika Lin became Kanata's youngest Ontario Champions at ages 9 and 8 respectively in the Pre-Novice Duo/Trio event.
Lauren Tierney became the Ontario Champion in the 6A category, winning silver in the rope, and gold for her ribbon and hoop routines and the overall gold medal.
Marie Arsenault became the Ontario Champion in the 4C category, with silver medals for her rope and ribbon routines, and gold in the hoop and the overall gold medal. This is twelve year old Marie's second Ontario Championship, as she was Ontario Champion in the 2A category in 2007.
