Paula Preston was honored with the Spirit of Sport Award

Recently our very own Paula Preston was honored with the Spirit of Sport Award at the 64th Annual Ottawa Sports Banquet.

The Spirit of Sport Award is one of 5 Lifetime Achievement Awards presented at the award ceremony and Paula is only the second person to ever receive the Spirit of Sport Award. This award recognizes volunteers who have been involved in amateur sport for at least 20 years. The extent of Paul’s volunteer capacity ranges from the Ottawa Fury Soccer Club, National Capital Wrestling Club, Gymnastics Ontario and Kanata Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics (KRSG) Club.

Paula's daughter Alisa joined KRSG in the early 1990’s and Paula has been an integral contributor to the club from that time and continues to this very day. We would like to thank Paula for dedicating over 25 years. KRSG would not be what it is today if Paula had not dedicated her time, energy, and skill set over the years.

After competing Provincially Alisa retired and Paula continued working with the club, being on the Board of Directors; the meet director for Kanata Cup over the last decade; meet director for Provincial Championships and two National Championships. She has also organized our gymnasts so they could participate in 4 World Gymnaestrada events overseas. Paula’s dedication to our club has allowed close to hundred gymnasts to create memories that will last them a lifetime; we are proud of this and we whole hardly thank Paula for hard work and dedication to KRSG.
